We tell the story of the Sailor's Valentine, right on the back of each tin: “The Sailors Valentine” A 19th Century Tradition Sailors returning home from faraway ports brought gifts of specially chosen seashells presented in a wooden box. These beautiful designs held within them their personal message of love. In the same tradition, this Sailor’s Valentine was inspired by the beautiful shells found on the shores of our Far-a-Way Island. Nantucket artist Barbara Capizzo created for us this unique compass rose design conveying our personal message: Set your course for the island of Nantucket and the romance of the seas will live forever in your heart.
