Nantucket Chocolatier Family Album

Thirty years ago, Kathy and John West thoughtfully named their new artisan chocolate business Sweet Inspirations of Nantucket. They were inspired by a love for the Island, its people, visitors, and natural beauty. Coupling these heartfelt interests with their chocolate and business heritage led them to create a world-class artisan chocolatier.

Through the past three decades, new inspirations and artisanship continued with international visitors and a diverse staff providing a wonderful mix of global ideas, abilities, and distinctive creations. Early creations included the elegantly simple chocolate Nantucket scallop shells, pecan and caramel Islands, the original Cranberry Creations™ chocolate covered cranberries, the Nancy Chase Nantucket Mint, and the extraordinary Cranberry Cheesecake truffle. During the last 20 years, an extensive collection of unique limited edition gift tins were created from collaborative efforts with local artist Barbara Capizzo and skilled American Tinsmiths. Memorable international chocolate inspirations include the Bermuda Dark n' Stormy and Swedish Glugg Truffles. Recent product developments with the team of Nantucket Chocolatiers have included the Cranberry Caramel with Sea Salt, the new Sea Mist™ Almonds, and of course the most famous artisan piece, Coco the Whale™ truffles.

The Sweet Inspirations kitchen on Centre Street reflects a classic artisan chocolatier workshop where a small skilled team prepares small batches using the best ingredients to create fresh, quality controlled, magnificent looking, and great tasting chocolates. From hand-wisking the fresh cream and chocolate ganaches, carefully cutting cranberry bark squares, funneling old fashioned non-pareils or warm buttery caramel, to piping fine decorative lines, the chocolate artisans work with precision and pride. Sweet Inspirations is pleased to lead a select team of chocolatiers, from apprentices to graduates of Johnson & Wales and Culinary Institute of America, in their common interest of creating excellence.
